Meetings for 2012


Meetings are at 7 pm and held the fourth Wednesday of the month, except the November and February meetings are held at 1:00. No MMGS meetings are held in January, July, August, and December. We meet at Plymouth Congregational Church, 2001 E. Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI 48912.

February 22:  Morris Thomas “The Legacy of the Base Line and Meridian on the Cultural Landscape of Michigan”.
It is a day meeting 1-3.

It is a day meeting 1 to 3 pm. at the church.

April 25  Judi Dow “My Civil War Ancestors”
It is an evening meeting 7:00-9:00pm at the church.

May 23 Lori Miller “Monumental Symbolism-Yesterday & Today” It is an evening meeting 7:00-9:00pm at the church.
Lori Miller has been in the grave monument business for 40 years, and she has “seen it all.” She has a keen interest in the many symbols on cemetery headstones and various tombs.
She will also delve into the meanings of several historic symbols, such as the griffon, lion, eagle and dove. She said many symbols on headstones and grave markers reflect the influence of the Knights Templar.

In December and January the are no meetings.
